This month is jam packed with indoor and outdoor activities! Some require signing up and others are drop in only - please read on to find out how you can get involved.

This month is jam packed with indoor and outdoor activities!  Some require signing up and others are drop in only – please read on to find out how you can get involved.   All our events are also on our Facebook events page and our website calendar!  

Please share this calendar & newsletter with those who you feel would love to attend or volunteer at our events.

Tuesday, December 3rd.  6-8 PM 

Novembers board game night was the busiest we’ve ever seen!  Plus, we got a few new games to share with you.  Whether you come with friends, or come alone to make them, all young adults are welcomed at our event.

Wednesdays 7-8 PM.  Canmore Opera House

Please note there is no yoga December 25th or January 1st.  Our community yoga classes are a great way to get out of the house & stretch out some cold and stiff muscles.  Everyone is welcomed to join in!

Tuesday December 10th.  7 AM – 7 PM

Every Second Tuesday, the shared working space at E=MC2 is FREE to use for CYAN members! Day passes for the space are usually $30. This is a beautiful co-working space to sit down and work on your projects, escape the noise of share houses or cafes and catch up with other locals wanting to experience a dynamic and diverse office environment.

Thursday, December 12th.  530-8 PM 

CYAN Cross Country skiing is back!!! We will host these meet ups the second Thursday of each month with the discounted rentals at trail sports ($12.50).  The park is free to use the lit paths after 5 PM.  

This first meet-up, we will have lessons for CYAN members – this does require advanced sign up to save your spot (only 27 spots are available) from 530-630 PM. Lessons will cost $10 on top of the equipment rental (these lessons are usually $60). Payments will be taken at trail sports the day of.

If you have your own gear and are just keen to ski with the community please meet us there!  Everyone is welcome to meet up with us! 

$12.50 equipment rental + $10 lesson – payable day of to Trail Sports

Are you new to the Bow Valley? Interested in finding out what options exist for fun, safe outdoor activities?

Drop by the FREE Welcome to Winter presentation on Thursday, December 12 at 7:00 p.m. at artsPlace Canmore. Learn more about hiking, snowshoeing, fat biking, classic skiing, skate skiing, big lake skating, back country skiing, ice climbing and winter mountaineering. Get tips on staying warm and staying safe. Find out where to go, what to wear and when the best conditions exist. Also learn about some of the fun, creative indoor activities available at ArtsPlace Canmore.

Friday, December 13th.  6-8 PM 

RYAN with Rebound Cycle has offered a discounted guided fat biking night to the CYAN community!

Join us Friday December 13th from 6-8 PM for a guided fat bike tour with Ryan. The cost of this adventure is $35+ GST and there are only 14 spots available (this normally costs $55+).  To register and secure your spot you must contact Rebound Cycle at 403-678-3668 or stop into their store at 902 8 St. Please mention you are registering for the CYAN Fat Bike evening ride.

Included in your rental is your fat bike, bar mitts, lights, helmets and your guide!

$35 + GST – Payable to Rebound Cycle


Tuesday, December 17th.  6-730 PM 

Join Canmore Young Adult Network – CYAN and Community Connections in the Bow Valley for a cultural potluck meal celebrating our diverse communities. 

The Bow Valley is home to people from around the world. Cultural groups will be preparing food to share with everyone and we invite individuals to also contribute a cultural dish or a treat to the potluck dinner. If you are unable to prepare a dish – you are still welcome to come out and enjoy the meal. We will be taking donations to help cover the cost of the event. Everyone is welcome to attend.  

If you are keen to cook a dish that best represents your culture/home country please reach out – Currently we have 10 countries represented and we would love to have more!

The Canmore Eagles Hockey team have partnered with the Canmore Young Adult Network to create a fun social event for Young Adults in Canmore.

In December there are two home games
Tuesday, Dec 10th 7 pm
Monday, Dec 30th 7 pm


For only $8 you can enjoy the best of hometown Hockey with our new CYAN discount for the Canmore Eagles Weekday games! Tickets are typically $15. 

Use discount code “CYAN” when purchasing tickets online and you will be automatically placed in the CYAN section of the arena! If you’re keen to go out to a game but afraid to go alone – we will be there in our section ready to help you cheer on your local stars!

Those elected officials have a due diligence to listen to your concerns.  Writing an email about  those concerns is a great way to connect to your politicians. ⁠

There is also a new group on Facebook - Bow Valley Unity Collective who are committed to challenging the status quo of white heterosexual hegemony and systemic racism and oppression in the Bow Valley and abroad.⁠

Cultural Learning Circles⁠ ⁠ On the first Wedn Cultural Learning Circles⁠

On the first Wednesday of every month artsPlace will host a Cultural Learning Circle. These will be led by a diversity of facilitators, from Stoney Nakoda knowledge-keepers to local community members, to experts in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion education. Admission is FREE!⁠

March 3, 2021, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm.  Hear personal stories of Bow Valley community members as they describe their experience growing up in Azerbaijan. Learn about Novruz, the Azerbaijani Festival of Spring, and different ways to celebrate. Have a chance to ask questions of your Azerbaijani neighbours about their culture and consider ways to be a good neighbour in our diverse Bow Valley community.⁠

As a reminder, there is no Party at the Pond this year.⁠

Indoor and outdoor gatherings are NOT permitted. RCMP will be doing patrols on New Year's Eve to ensure that our community members are respecting Public Health Orders.
