The Canmore Young Adult Network (CYAN) is a group of dedicated and passionate young adults in Alberta’s Bow Valley focused on connecting local young adults to each other and their community.

Canmore stands with our local Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) community and BIPOC communities around Canada and in the United States.⁠

Tomorrow, Friday June 5th at 1pm, end white silence here in the Bow Valley and say something. Bring a sign, and your voice to elevate our neighbors and the very real struggles they face. We will march from Riverside Park to Millenium Park along the river trail. ⁠

Join us to remember the lives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, and the many other BIPOC lives taken by force. We will say their names. They will not be forgotten.⁠

It's still a Pandemic. Wear a mask. Practice social distancing.⁠
⁠
Organizers are not planning anything that will encourage people to group up up in one spot. Let's keep 2 m distance from each other on our walk, and at the parks. This is a peaceful event.⁠

The Canmore Museum, Kristy Wolfe Photography and artsPlace are collaborating on a project called Stories of Resilience which is about documenting history in real time and will culminate in a number of community outcomes including historical archives for the museum, an exhibition at artsPlace, content for BVIP's #MeetTheLocals campaign. ⁠

We are looking for young adults keen to share their story, how you've been impacted and what the future holds for you. If you are keen to get involved (you will be filmed & photographed) please reach out to us here!

On Wednesday’s we do yoga. Join us for another CYAN community yoga class tonight at 7pm. Everyone is welcome to join in. We will focus on stretching out our hiking muscles this evening. See you tonight on our Facebook live!

Here on #BlackOutTuesday we stand united in support of Equality, Freedom and Human Rights. Racism and inequality are present in our community and it's important we learn more on how we can all make a positive impact. ⁠

With that in mind, we've assembled local resources to help guide those interested. ⁠

The CYAN team acknowledges this challenge and we will examine our organization and initiatives to uncover how we can help progress our community accordingly. ⁠

Everyone is welcome to join in to our free community yoga class this evening. We’re seeing lots of claims that yoga is helping ease some stress and anxiety of the pandemic. We’d love to know how you feel after class! Join us 7pm on Facebook live!
