July 2020 Newsletter

2020-07-01 By CYAN

“Nothing is more memorable than a smell.  One scent can be unexpected, momentary and fleeting, yet conjure up a childhood summer beside a lake in the mountains…”
                                                                                                         –  Diane Ackerman

We are pleased to be hosting our events once again!   Given everything going on, there will be some changes from how we were running programs, please see event descriptions below.

We will work to maintain proper social distancing protocols.  If you are sick, have recently traveled, or have been in contact with someone sick – please do not attend our events.

As things may change, please follow us either on Facebook or Instagram to get up to date news on our events.

Join us for an outdoor yoga session in the park – free for all to attend. Every Wednesday from 7-8 PM. Everyone is welcome to join in!

We are not using Riverside Park for classes at the moment. For now, classes will be held at 617 Main Street, in the grass behind the church – we will announce if they move to another location.

Class is capped at 25 participants to ensure proper social distancing measures are being practices. Please bring your own mat/towel/blanket to use & all participants will be given hand sanitizer to use prior to class.

We invite you to come out to Riverside park with your cohort group to take advantage of CYAN’s games & outdoor toys. From Bocce Ball to Monopoly we have what you need to have a great night out in the park!  These events will be held Tuesday July 14th, July 28th & August 18th from 530-730 PM

This is not a led event, we will be at the park with our games & toys to lend out. Anyone “checking out” or planning to use a game or toy will be asked to sanitize their hands. When games are returned to CYAN they will be in isolation for at least two weeks until the next event. We ask that all participants practice proper social distancing while attending CYAN events.

In case of inclement weather we may be able to move indoors, stay informed by following us on Facebook or Instagram for up to date information.

Join us for a 3 part book club, disusing Desmond Cole’s book “The Skin We’re In”

We will meet July 21st, August 11th & August 25th from 6-730 pm to discuss what we’ve read. The discussions will be facilitated by a CYAN member & everyone is welcome to come out & participate.

We do recognize that this book is currently not easy to find in paper back – however there are many options for an audio or e-version at the moment.

We will still be adhering to social distancing protocols and provide enough space for all participants. Meetings will be held our back of 617 Main street on the grass, and we can move inside in case of inclement weather. We will ask that each participant use hand sanitizer before each meeting & ask that you stay home if you are or have been around anyone feeling unwell.

On Monday, July 27th, join CYAN in sitting down with Canmore’s mayor, John Borrowman for some casual conversation on all things Canmore! This event will be held via zoom – the link will be shared prior to the event.

We understand that the political world can oftentimes be quite intimidating, but we strongly believe that young adult voices deserve to be heard. We would like to offer you the opportunity to get involved in the most relaxed setting possible. Whether you want to raise serious concerns, have questions on specific projects, or just want to be in the loop on what’s happening around town, we encourage you to hop on line and join in!
